Dance Competition

Bricanie had her first Clogging competition of the year at Thanksgiving point today. She has to do 5 types of solos and a team dance. The solos are not like normal solos. They have 5 lines and each person does the same dance and they each have their own judge. They then go to the back of the line and then when everyone is done with that "style of dance" they do it again until all 5 types are done.

The 5 "styles of dance" are Show, Line, Percussion,Traditional, and Challenge. This year only Bricanie and one other girl in her class did the challenge because they were not taught it in class because they were working more on their team dance than their solos. Well Bricanie learned it on her own from watching the practice DVD.

In order for her to move up to the next level in clogging she has to place 1st in 4 out of the 5 solos. I know these pictures are not very good and are hard to see, the lighting in the barn was HORRIBLE and they were taken on my cell phone

In the challenge she took 2nd place (see the top name)
Traditional- She took 1st place (picture is much better. She is the first name on the list)
Percussion- 2nd place (third one from the top)
Show-1st place
Line- 1st place

So as you noticed she got 3 1st place and 2nd place. "Grandma" Chris (the owner of the studio) was really surprised that she didn't place first in percussion as was I. I knew she would probably not place 1st in Challenge since she didn't have much time to practice that one.

But she can try it again in St. George and all she has to do is get 1 first place. And I have no doubt in my mind that she will do it.

As for  her team dance they took second and won Overall Studio Grand Champions. Which means that they got some of the highest scores.
It is hard to see, but she is pointing to her studio name on the Grand Champion list.

My Pretty  little princess with her medal and her place pins. I am so proud of her. She is an amazing dancer. I love to watch her dance and can not believe how talented she is.
