Once again it was time for my kids to participate in the Reflections program at school. The theme this year was "Diversity means..."
So this year Kierra did not enter because she wasn't sure what she wanted to do and waited until the last minute to decide and so I told her she would have to wait until next year. Kendon entered in the 3d category, and Bricanie entered in the visual arts, photography, and dance category.
Tonight was the awards assembly
Kendon got a participation award for his entry.
Bricanie got a participation award for her entry in visual arts. I need to take a picture of her drawing and post it. She drew a picture of the world with all different color hands reaching around it. Her title was Diversity reaches around the world.
She was a winner with her dance and is moving on to council level.
Title:
It Doesn't Matter...
Artists statement:
Diversity means...Different in more than one way. it doesn't matter what we look like, what kind of music we listen to, or our abilities to do things, we are all different in our own unique way.
Being different makes us who we are as an individual and should be repsected and accepted because without being different the world would be a boring place.
And her entry in photograpy to our surprise since there were over 50 entries won as well. She was not expecting this at all and was pretty excited.
Title: Colors of Diversity
Artists Statement:
These markers are each a different color and are meant to be used to color their individual colors. We are different like these markers in race, size, age, and gender as well, but we are also individuals and are meant to accomplish specific things.
Diversity means we need to recognize and accept the differences of each person, but also their individuality. If we did not have differences we could not color the world with the bright colors of these markers.
Here is the picture she entered.
She got a photo album and a disposable camera(yes they still make these) as her "prize" in the photography category.
She got headbands and leg warmers as a "prize" in the dance category.
